<h2>About this piece of art and the artist </h2>
Born the second son of the three children of his parents in Boston, Winslow Homer picked up his longing for painting as talented from his amateur painter mother. His artistic education was limited only to the extent of his brief apprenticeship with a lithographer. His mastery in sketching and expertise in watercolors were the outcome of his keen observation of nature and the rest could be attributed to his inborn spontaneity. He traveled widely but always stayed close to nature with a painter's eye and a restless brush. Womenfolk promenading along the seashore and those frolicking in a meadow were always some of his dearest subjects and were always close to heart.
East Hampton Beach is one such exciting moment of his life and his brush with watercolor translated its naturalistic details into an invigorating piece of painting.
